Thanks for the travel

Posted by admin  Published in Travel

I would like to thank everyone who e-mailed me their support after reading my last blog entry. I came across a quote that pretty much sums it all up, and as a bonus, it’s far more eloquent than I could ever write:

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

Everyone who has written me lately has proven My words, and for that, I am extremely grateful. And while we’re on the topic, I’d like to thank everyone for sharing this voyage with me. I would like to share you what my friend told me about hotels and helps you to find a hotel for your need, a http://www.hotelscombined.com.

Driving Course In TOYOTA

Posted by admin  Published in Cars

I’ve always wanted to do an advanced driving course. The idea of having complete control over my vehicle (no matter what the situation) kind of intrigues me. I’ve always had a deep respect for people that have done these courses. I always feel safer in the car when the person behind the wheel has been trained to drive by professionals. My greatest disappointment has always been that most of these courses are run in German manufactured automobiles. Although the principles remain the same, I’ve always felt uncomfortable with the idea that the car you’re learning these new skills in is not something that might be sitting in your garage at home.

The great news is that Toyota is offering advanced driving courses. The courses are extremely comprehensive, with a strong focus on safety. There are courses for every skill level and for every vehicle preference. So whether you’re a 4×4 fundi, car pooler, or the school taxi, you’re bound to find a course that you will benefit from. The best part about these courses is that they’re all done in Toyota vehicles, so you’ll be learning these skills in a familiar car. If you don’t own a Toyota, do the course, you will definitely want to invest in one afterwards. :)

What I found particularly interesting is the Skid Monster training device. It’s a really amazing contraption that is attached to the vehicle. It allows the instructor to simulate all kinds of dangerous situations (without actually endangering your life). This is the first device of its kind in the country and has proven to be an invaluable training tool.

Extreme Sightseeing

Posted by admin  Published in Travel

Volcanoes are the most extreme of tourist attractions, if not the hottest. They explode and kill, and travellers seek them out regardless. Though I’m yet to melt a sandal in semi-molten rock or toast marshmallows on hot pumice, I have got close to the edge a few times:

Aso-san in central Kyushu, Japan: Getting here by car is easy - with a Japanese friend driving. We park just below the crater lip, but could have just as easily caught the cable car. There are plenty of black mushroom-shaped magma shelters to protect us in case lava starts a-flowing. To add a level of difficulty, we visit in the middle of a typhoon. Leaning into the gale, we get to the edge and see a vast cloud-filled hollow of nothingness.

Mt Taranaki on New Zealand’s North Island: Not an easy climb. We drive halfway up to the track to the ski run, cross the couloir, which in winter is an avalanche hazard, reach the huts at the base of the ski lift, and look up: the snow-covered cone is a long way away. We walk back to the car.

Tofua, an island in Tonga’s Ha’apai group: The seaplane lands on the crater-lake, and put-puts to shore, and we start climbing. The scoria is loose and gravelly, and covered in weird fern-like creepers. The guide stops, says he’s been up too often, and reminds us if a cloud of poisonous gas suddenly billows our way, we should run downhill. Also, we shouldn’t go to the left of the crevice - if there’s a tremor that half of the cone will fall away first. We get to the lip and look into a pit of poisonous steam, wind blows a cloud our way. We duck and scurry back down and eat sandwiches by the lake.

Well maybe I’ve only got close-ish to the edge.

Train Travel Guide

Posted by admin  Published in Advise

Trail travel might not be the most popular way people move. This could be because of the length a trip could take compared to air traveling. Another reason could be the monotony of sights that might bring boredom to passengers. Another could be the price one single train travel could cost compared when taking a bus. All these contribute to the decreasing popularity of train travel but it does not mean that train travel is not good at all. In fact, with a little wit and personal creativity, one could enjoy train travel.

1. Expect to travel for long hours. In this way, you don’t have to look at your timepiece regularly or ask a crew with the most annoying question you also would not want to hear: “Are we there yet?” Keep in mind that if you are crossing state boarders, train travel could take more hours than driving your own car at your own phase. And sometimes, train schedules are not met so you don’t have to nag every crew with the train schedule.

2. Relax and enjoy the scenery. If you are traveling during daytime, you could see sights that might not be possible to see if you are traveling by plane, bus or car. Try to enjoy the scenery. You can even bring binoculars to help you see more views closer.

3. If you are a reader, this is the best time to read. Trains are more stable than bus. So if you would like to read without controlling the motion of your hand with the book, the train could provide you with stability. Bring a book of your favorite author. You can also consider finalizing your report if you are going to present it on meetings.

4. If you are not into sightseeing and reading, you can bring your portable CD player or iPod. Bring your most favorite albums you could bring. Or, if you have an iPod, you can store all your songs to your library. Make sure you have spare batteries.

5. Be friendly and polite. If a person asks favors from you, be more than willing to do it. Train travel would offer you new acquaintances and friends.

6. Do not intrude other people’s business in the best way you could. Respect other people’s privacy.

7. Talk to the crew nicely. Although they would not throw you off the train if you shout to them, doing such is not proper. They are well trained and very friendly, be nice to the crew.

8. Take time to meet other people. Since you expect to be on the train for several hours especially if you are crossing state borders, you wont be doing so much. You can roam around the train and meet other people. This is the best time to have someone to talk to.

9. If in case you are traveling with your children, make sure you provide them with lots of activities. Bring along activity books, quiet toys, color pens, crayons, papers, reading material, coloring books, and video games. In this way, you keep them entertained.

Advisory Of Travel

Posted by admin  Published in Advise

A travel advisory is a public notice issued by a government agency to provide information about the relative safety of traveling to or visiting one or more specific destinations. The purpose is to allow travelers to make an informed decision about a particular travel destination, and to help them prepare adequately for what may be encountered on their trip. Travel issues may include: inclement weather, civil unrest or disease.

Travelers departing from or arriving at the United States should consult the U.S. State Department’s U.S. Travel web site at http://travel.state.gov/ for current information about U.S. and world travel requirements and recommended precautions. In addition, the U.S. Transportation Security Agency has devoted a portion of their web site to U.S. travelers: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm. This site is particularly helpful for those traveling by commercial airline, as it tracks the various travel security measures that will be imposed on air travelers.

Meaning of Travel

Posted by admin  Published in General, Uncategorized

Travel is the change in location of people on a trip through the means of transport from one location to another. Travel may be performed for recreation (as part of tourism or to visit friends and family), as part of business or for commuting. Travel may occur by walking or other human-powered mode, or through mechanical vehicles, either as private or public transport.

The word originates from the Middle English word travailen (”to toil”), which comes from the French word travailler (”travail”). A person who travels is called a traveler (US) or traveller (UK).
